The Abraham Lincoln Award: Illinois' Grades 9-12 Readers' Choice Award
The Illinois School Library Media Association creates a list of popular fiction and non-fiction books that are nominated by high school students, teachers (two of our English teachers, Mr. Buck and Mr. Dayton were some of the reviewers) and librarians. Students who read 4 or more of the books on the list can vote on which book they think is the best.
Some past Abraham Lincoln Award Nominees have been the most popular books on the shelves and include:
- The Fault in our Stars by John Green
- Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher
- The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins
- Winger by Andrew Smith
- Swim the Fly by Don Calame
- A Child Called It by Dave Pelzer
- Eleanor and Park by Rainbow Rowell
- Boy 21 by Matthew Quick
